Robert (“Roy”) Sutherland Chapman

Consultant dermatologist Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow, 1971-2003 (b Cults, Aberdeenshire, 1938; q Aberdeen 1962; FRCP Ed, FRCP, FRCP Glas), died from complications of motor neurone disease on 5 December 2003.

Roy was senior registrar in dermatology at the Middlesex Hospital and clinical assistant at St John's Hospital for Diseases of the Skin, both in London, before moving back to Scotland in 1971 as a consultant dermatologist at Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow. He enjoyed teaching medical students and junior doctors, and was involved in the restructuring of dermatological services in Glasgow. His interests included gardening, hill walking, Scottish history, fine wines, and travelling. Predeceased by his first wife, Rosalind, he leaves his second wife and three children.
