Michael Shirley Adams

Former general practitioner Tring (b Clitheroe 1920; q Cambridge/St Thomas's Hospital, London, 1945), died from prostate cancer on 27 April 2004.

After house jobs at St Thomas's he joined the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve for his national service. He then worked as a senior house officer at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Tottenham, and the London Chest Hospital before deciding that his future lay in general practice. On retirement in 1980 he went to live in Seaview, Isle of Wight, and took an active part in the village life there, in particular the sailing activities. He leaves a wife, Anne, and three children.
