Former general practitioner Paisley and regional medical officer (b 1921; q Glasgow 1944; FRCGP), d 26 April 2004.
After house jobs in the Royal Alexandra Infirmary, Paisley, and service in the Royal Navy, Pearie, as he was known, entered general practice in Paisley. In 1969 he joined Fisons Pharmaceuticals as medical adviser, but after several years he returned to Scotland as regional medical officer in the Scottish Home and Health Department. He was on the editorial board of the Prescriber's Journal. He sang in two choirs and was an accomplished pianist. Predeceased by his wife, Jean, he leaves a son and three grandchildren.
