Safety strategy needed in NHS to stop injuries to staff

    Better and more well coordinated safety strategies are needed in the NHS to prevent accidents among staff that currently cost the health service more than £170m ($282m; €242m) a year, says the public spending watchdog, the Public Accounts Committee.

    In 20012 more than 135 000 accidents were reported among NHS staff; this figure was described by the chairman of the committee as a “substantial increase” on previous years.
