Prozac (fluoxetine) was once full of promise: a miracle cure for a miserable generation. Since its launch in 1989 more than 35 million people have been prescribed the drug. Peter Krammer's Listening to Prozac, which presented patients whose thoughts, personalities, and lives were transformed by the drug, was published in 1993 and became a best seller.
