    Foundation trusts possess the attitude of private companies with regard to income generation and are a serious threat to equitable front line health services, a conference heard last week.

    The Society for Social Medicine conference (“Developing a framework for equity in the new NHS”) was told of doubts about the effectiveness of safeguards that the government claims to have built into the bill to set up foundation hospitals.
