Cancer rates in Europe are linked to overweight, experts warn

Overweight and obesity account for over 50 000 “avoidable” cases of cancer in European Union countries every year, 9000 of which are in the United Kingdom alone.

Speaking at a conference in London on obesity, nutrition, and cancer last week, organised by the World Cancer Research Fund and sponsored by the Department of Health, experts warned that the rapidly rising prevalence of obesity is taking a huge toll on global health.
