Two junior doctors working in Britain were convicted of manslaughter last week but walked free after the judge imposed 18 month prison sentences suspended for two years.
Amit Misra, aged 34, and Rajeev Srivastava, aged 38, were found guilty by majority verdicts of causing the death of 31 year old Sean Phillips by gross negligence. A jury at Winchester Crown Court took nine hours to deliver their verdict against the two doctors. The doctors qualified in India but were working as senior house officers in the NHS.
