Former general practitioner Birmingham (b 1932; q Durham 1962), died from cancer on Christmas Eve 2002.
Nick was in general practice in Birmingham and Leamington Spa for 38 years. Before that he held junior hospital appointments in Newcastle and Gateshead. Nick came from Hungary after the 1956 revolution and studied medicine in Newcastle. I did a research project with him in my final year in 1959 and he was as imaginative and meticulous as a researcher, as he was later in his medical practice. He remained a regular attender of medical meetings and travelled widely. He leaves his second wife, Rita, and a daughter; and two sons from his first marriage to Sheila.
