As I write, the debate started in our Christmas issue (21-28 December, p 1431 over whether the BMJ should devote more space to politics is finely balanced. A third want the same as now, 13% want much more, and 15% want much less. So editors, just like politicians, can't please all the people all the time, especially when we reflect that those who want more politics probably all want something different.
