In this news article by Zosia Kmietowicz (16 November, p 1129) we inadvertently said that a majority of doctors in Northern Ireland had voted to accept the proposed new consultant contract. We should have said that a majority of consultants (not a majority of doctors) had voted to accept it. Voting among consultants was 54% to 46% in favour, but voting among specialist registrars was 76% to 24% against. Taking the two groups of doctors together, the voting was 50.3% against the contract to 49.7% in favour.
