“Alarming increase” in clinical negligence claims in Wales

    The National Assembly for Wales has warned of an alarming increase in clinical negligence claims. The costs will take up a large slice of the extra resources recently announced for the NHS by the chancellor of the exchequer, it says.

    The assembly's audit committee says that probable liabilities totalled £92m ($144m; €146) at the end of March last year in respect of claims for clinical negligence and personal injury to be met from premiums payable in future years.
