Peter trained in otorhinolaryngology but as a result of deteriorating hearing retrained in radiology, which he initially hated. He became an international authority in his field and lectured and published widely. His main hobby was vintage cars and he owned three at the time of his death. He was a canal enthusiast, and had been on every canal in England and Wales. He leaves a wife, Susan; and two children
