England's health service ombudsman, Sir Michael Buckley, has criticised five GPs for unreasonably striking off patients without giving them proper warning.
The latest summary of investigations, completed by his office for the quarter August-November 2001, indicate an upward trend in the number of complaints. For the whole of the previous year (April 2000 to April 2001) only nine such complaints were made, of which seven were upheld.
