Former general practitioner Edinburgh (b 1914, q Edinburgh 1937), died from the complications of a stroke on 14 September 2001.

In 1948, she and her husband, Allan, began in general practice at the start of the NHS. They practised from first one, and then another, former farmhouse on the west side of Edinburgh. In 1953 they moved into Sighthill Health Centre, which was built beside their surgery and which was Scotland's first health centre. Margaret was modest and gentle. Predeceased by Allan, she leaves four children and 10 grandchildren.
