German scientists are trying to further their plans to carry out research using stem cells, even though the politicians continue to debate the future of embryo research in the country. Use of embryos for research purposes is currently banned, but at least two German research groups have recently imported embryonic stem cells—which is permitted—and several more plan to work with them in the future.
