Campaign against trypanosomiasis launched: The World Health Organization (WHO) and the pharmaceutical company Aventis Pharma, have announced a joint effort to combat African trypanosomiasis, which affects about 500000 people in sub-Saharan Africa. Aventis Pharma has committed $25m (£18m) to support the WHO's activities over five years.
