Complaints against doctors in the United Kingdom rose by 50
last year, said the General Medical Council. The figures were released as the GMC completed its blueprint for a proposed restructuring that it hopes will help to restore public confidence in the profession. The GMC received 4470 complaints last year, compared with 3000 in 1999.
