After Flatliners (1990) and Dying Young (1991), Joel Schumacher continues his fascination with illness and medicine in his latest picture. Unlike the previous films, the former about experimentation with death states and the latter dealing with terminal illness, Flawless has recovery as its central theme. However, the rehabilitation of Walt Koontz (Robert De Niro) after a serious stroke that paralyses his right side and renders him unable to speak does not entirely restore him to his former self.
