Nine associations representing over 2000 patients with laryngeal cancer, all former smokers, are to launch a suit against Spain's state controlled tobacco industry on 31 May—to coincide with World No-Tobacco Day.
This is the first collective lawsuit against Spain's state controlled tobacco industry (Asociación Empresarial del Tabaco). The associations representing the patients are based in nine Spanish cities, and the associations' lawyers will file nine independent lawsuits in each of the cities simultaneously.
