Free eye tests introduced for people over 60 in England and Wales

    People over the age of 60 in England and Wales are now entitled to free eye tests, the Department of Health announced last week, 10 years after charges were first introduced for this service.

    This means that seven million people in England and Wales can now have eye tests paid for by the NHS. Similar arrangements are being made for people living in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Announcing the new service, the secretary of state for health, Frank Dobson said: …
