The attorney general's office of Barcelona has denounced one of the city's leading ophthalmologists for allegedly allowing a male nurse in his team to perform surgical operations–mainly cataract removals.
Both the ophthalmologist, Dr Demetrio Pita Salorio, and the nurse, Manuel Gutierrez Ramos, are accused of the crime of “intrusismo,” which is defined as “practising or allowing somebody to practise a profession without having the necessary qualifications.”
