From psychiatry to physiatry, better known as rehabilitation medicine on this side of the pond (Arch Phys Med Rehabil 1998;79:10-3). Analysis of questionnaires before and after a two week clerkship in the specialty showed final year medical students' previously marginal knowledge increased; and that more students would consider a career in the specialty after experience of it. The authors used their (not unsurprising) results to get the physiatry clerkship brought forward a year in the curriculum, which they feel will further increase the likelihood of it being made a career choice.
