Doctors with mental health problems face a particularly difficult situation, as Elizabeth Armstrong outlined a year ago (BMJ 1997;314(classified suppl:7 Jun) www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/314/7095/S2-7095. Since the Doctors' Support Network was founded more than a year ago it has grown to a membership of more than 130, with groups in Scotland, York, and London, and a new group planned for Northern Ireland.
