GP registrars should be exposed to between 1 and 10 million patient hours of cover, not (as I wrote two weeks ago) 1 to 10 million hours of patient cover. As a contributor to Career-f pointed out, this would mean doing between 114 and 600 years of on call before being signed up. The patient hour of cover is of course the number of patients covered while on call multiplied by the time spent covering them. (One hour with the co-op may be worth 10 on the practice rota.)
