The National Association of Non-Principals is worried that some practices are misusing or exploiting their non-principal colleagues. The association has written to the Joint Committee on Postgraduate Training for General Practice about the employment of assistants or retainers in some training practices on inappropriate terms; the employment of locums by some training practices on a semipermanent basis without recognition of assistant state; and the refusal of some training practices to pay the recommended fees for locum work. The JCPTGP has asked for evidence and has promised to ask the directors of postgraduate education to look into the allegations.
