In keeping with a tradition now more than a century old, the inaugural meeting of the 107th season of the Auchendreich Medico - Chirurgical Society took place on the second Monday in September. Our subject—though decided in haste at an emergency committee meeting in July following the sudden departure of our secretary-designate to locum work in Saudi Arabia in the wake of an unexpectedly harsh divorce settlement—could hardly have been more topical.
With perfect timing, our society debated the matter of devolution and the health service in Scotland just three days before the referendum that could bring the greatest upheaval for health care in the Greater Auchendreich Area since 1948. While our ability to influence the electorate at large …
