Even American doctors aren't yet at the cutting edge of this technology-but for a view of the future explore www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/315/7100/www.occ.com which recruits computer professionals and others using the latest in web technology. Posting a CV to the database is free: employers then pay to search the database. There are also conventional classified-style ads which can be searched free by profession or region: when you find a job that interests you, one click takes you to the advertiser's website for more information about the organisation. It seems likely that the On-line Career Center and its ilk offer the potential to cut costs and increase accuracy when compared with traditional recruitment methods.
