Former general practitioner north London (b Nottingham 1923; q Middlesex 1947), died of lung cancer on 16 January 1997. He was an accomplished musician who declined an organ scholarship to Cambridge in favour of medicine. He did his national service in the Royal Air Force in Singapore and gained further experience in several London hospitals before entering general practice. He was medical referee for Golders Green crematorium for over 30 years, was on the staff of Hendon district hospital until it closed, and was active in the local BMA, local medical committee, and freemasonry. His life was complicated by longstanding cerebellar ataxia and he had had an unrelated carcinoma of the colon removed six years before his death. He leaves a wife, Margaret; a daughter and two sons; and four grandchildren.
