Non - consultant grade doctors have been facing uncertainty over the transitional arrangements for award of the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST). The Specialist Training Authority is now seeking an amendment that will extend the transitional period, presently due to end on 1 January 1998. The modification to the legislation will also allow experience in non - consultant career grade posts to count as part of specialist training, though the authority wishes to be fair to “existing orthodox trainees.”
