Morale in the defence medical services is low, according to a recent BMA survey. Cuts in the service mean that medical staff are being engaged in record numbers of deployments, while 90% of the 751 respondents feel that career prospects within the service are deteriorating. Only half of the medical officers questioned said that they would recommend a cadetship or short service commission to a medical student.
