An interesting combination of managerial and healthcare methodologies has been used at Grampian Healthcare, Aberdeen's NHS community trust (http://www.wintermute.co.uk/users/ghc): 43% of its 5365 staff responded in a survey of their views on the workplace environment, the demands of their jobs, and management style. Some 38% of respondents felt burdened by the volume of paperwork associated with their jobs, but the GHQ-28 rating for depression among staff was similar to the background community prevalence. (HEALTH) Healthy Employment (through) Action-centred Leadership, Teamwork (and) Honesty appears to be a constructive attempt in the process of development of a “sensitive and caring management style.”
