Medical gap years in Australia aren't as easy to arrange as they used to be: controls have got much tighter in recent years. Still, training spells in the Antipodes are possible, as an article in the Journal of Accident and Emergency Medicine (1997:14;36-39) makes clear. Although the focus is mainly on posts in emergency medicine, Oz-bound doctors from any specialty will benefit from the summary of visa, work practice, and lifestyle information within it.
