Campaign calls for action on fluoridation

A new campaign launched this week has called on the British government, local authorities, and the water industry to take action to extend the fluoridation of water.

The 20 organisations that are supporting the campaign say that children in some areas have five times as much tooth decay as children in other areas and that it is completely unacceptable for the water industry to determine public policy. The organisations have formed an alliance calling for existing legislation to be amended to make it mandatory for water companies to fluoridate water when asked to do so by health authorities.
