    Practising in occupational medicine, I am constantly reminded to examine the potential for a patient or employee's medical condition to be associated with their work. I suspect that for many of us our only training in this specialty was confined to a single, undergraduate lecture. Even if there are no workplace associations it is seldom that our patients' illnesses are not affected by how, when, and whether they return to work after illness.
