A British widow, Diane Blood, who is waging a legal battle to have her dead husband's baby, lost in the High Court last week but vowed to fight on to the Court of Appeal.
The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) had refused to allow her to be artificially inseminated with sperm taken from her husband, Stephen, at her request as he lay in a coma after contracting bacterial meningitis. He had not given written consent.
