Doctors considering a period of employment in New Zealand are being warned that they risk losing pay and other employment benefits following the dramtic restructuring of the health service there. Salaried medical staff are now employed by 23 crown health enterprises, and, according to the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists, there are no effective procedures for negotiating salaried doctors' contracts. Doctors seeking work in New Zealand are strongly advised to contact the Association (PO Box 5251 Wellington, New Zealand. Tel +64 04 499 1271. Fax +64 04 499 4500).
