The embarrassing hiatus between the Dreich and Auchendreich by-election and the equally important general election is perhaps not the ideal time for major decisions on public spending, but nevertheless decisions have to be made. Here in Auchendreich we are of course nomeetingt exempt from these difficulties, and they were focused on sharply at an important last week when the three rival consortia bidding for the long awaited private finance initiative replacement for Auchendreich General presented their ideas.
