Threatened surgeon has case reconsidered

An editorial error occurred in the news item by Clare Dyer (13 April, p 927). The item reported on how a surgeon in Leeds, Mr Duncan Walker, has made accusations against a colleague, Mr R Unnikrishnam Nair. The item did not make clear that Mr Nair had been cleared completely. An investigation was carried out by Leeds Healthcare and the United Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust. A statement released after the investigation said: “Leeds Healthcare and the United Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust are delighted to be able to confirm the complete exoneration of Unni Nair from any suggestion or implication of corruption or fraud.”

We apologise to Mr Nair and his family for the distress caused by this error.
