If the BMA does not get a satisfactory response from the secretary of state for defence about the future of doctors in the armed services it will seek a meeting with the prime minister. That was the pledge that the chairman of the BMA council, Dr Sandy Macara, gave to a conference of armed forces doctors earlier this month.
