The first NHS funded surrogate pregnancy could go ahead, said Dr John Parsons, director of the assisted conception unit at King's College Hospital. Speaking this week at the launch of a BMA guide on surrogacy for health professionals, he said that his unit already had four or five inquiries about the procedure each year. His hospital had now been approached by a health authority that was prepared to fund a surrogate pregnancy.
