January 1—Gosh. The first day of my 25th year in the NHS!
Today is a holiday so I watched a film called Reach for the Sky on TV. The best bit was when Kenneth More took over a demoralised unit and telegraphed Whitehall: THIS SQUADRON IS NOT OPERATIONAL, REPEAT NOT OPERATIONAL. The “brass hats” were angry but they gave him equipment. Then his men admired him and became moralised again.
