Panic reaction in Britain last year to a television programme on cot deaths was misplaced, according to the findings ofan expert group, which has found no evidence of any link between cot mattresses and infant deaths. An 11 strong expert group of scientists and clinicians, set up by the chief medical officer, Dr Kenneth Calman, replicated the experiments behindITV's programme the Cook Report and found them to be unsound. Its report was published in last week's Lancet.
