EDITOR,--Whether the public should be explicitly involved in decisions about health care is thesubject of debate. Some researchers have found that members of the public are reluctant to state aview1 or prefer decisions about the allocation of health resources to be made by doctors.2 The debates that have beguntotake place over the rationing of health care2 have, however,made the issue more open, and many people believe that the public can no longer be allowed to remain ignorant of decisions that concern them.
