In Australia “true believers” is a term that causes the political right to sneer and those on the left to prickle, wearing what is intended as a slur with pride. The label refers to those who doggedly cling to the socialist and communitarian ideals of the Labor party, such as the pursuit of equity. To those on the right true believers are conservatives holding back progress--which in health care translates roughly into anything that encourages more private health care insurance.
