I am a psychiatrist in a service for adolescents with serious psychiatric illness. I was recently invited to take part in a double blind, multicentre trial looking at the use of a relatively new antidepressant. My involvement would be to identify patients with major depressive illness who would then be screened for their suitability for the study. The study seemed well designed and would of course be presented to the relevant ethical committees.
