    EDITOR,—I C McManus and P Richards repeat some of the methodological problems with our paper that we highlighted. We believe that it is important to look at both offers of places and acceptances because both these measures are difficult to interpret, and we have submitted a further paper for publication, which looks at these issues in more detail.
