Americans have 12 unhealthy years: The average person in the US can expect to have about 12 years of bad health in a 76 year lifespan, according to researchers at the US Public Health Service writing in JAMA. The researchers say that those unhealthy years are spent coping with illnesses such as pneumonia, heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.
