EDITOR,—Ronald A Schoenenberger and Sabine M Heim draw conclusions about the investigation of a first generalised seizure that may not be generally applicable to patients seen in an accident and emergency department.1 The CAGE questionnaire may or may not be a fair means of assessing alcohol dependence in English speaking respondents and may be less reliable when translated into another language (what is the German for “eye opener” anyway?).
