Campaign targets polio “hot spots”

A major initiative has been launched to try to wipe out polio from the former Soviet Union and the Middle East in the next three years. About 70 million children will be immunised in a synchronised programme over three months to mark World Health Day on 7 April. At least 15 countries were due to conduct mass immunisations on the day itself.
